[Ooh, cute girl in his voice mail. Morgan calls back sweaty and a little dirty, because guess who's working on the farm?]

Heya, Caster!

Evening- you look like you've been busy.

[Caster, you're going to have to tell him your real name at some point.]</small?

Farm soil doesn't till itself and money doesn't come without a little effort. You look like you've been gorgeous.

[He can't resist. She's just so fun to tease.]

[Morgan continues to be terrible! As ever, a blush lights up her cheeks.]

Yet the hard work's done nothing to temper your tongue I see...!

It'd be really surprising if it DID. I've been putting in hard work all my life. So what's up?

I stand by what I said, you're awful.

[Well once she gets over being flustered, she can at least focus on the question.]

I wanted to ask you something- do you drink?

[morganknight]

Nope. I can't be trusted drunk. But that's personal choice and I never mind going out with someone to a bar...

Surely that wouldn't be much fun for you if you're with someone who's drinking and you're not?

...Do you have any preferences on food, then?

[She couldn't imagine not drinking wine! But, each to their own- she respected his choice either way.]</small

It's not about the drinking, it's about the company. Caster, I worked at a bar.

But if food's an option... I'm a sucker for a really good sandwich.

Oh, really?

[Well...he did seem the type who could set people at ease.

Still, she blinked a bit in surprise at his choice of room, seeming a little relieved. She was worried he was going to suggest something complicated.]

Right, I see... and, well, you don't avoid meat or anything do you?

...Just out of curiosity.

[Caster you are fooling no one.]

I have generally no dietary limitations. No allergies and nothing I avoid by choice.

[Where COULD this be going.]

Interesting. Well. I'm sure you want the chance to clean up, so.

...I'll see you tomorrow. I'll be passing by that way on errands, so I may as well come and say hello.

Someone's got to make sure you're not slacking off on your work.

[The most subtle.]

I promise my work won't cause you any embarrassment by association.

[Just his actions, maybe. But maybe not; Morgan is going to turn it down a few notches. This is sort of a red-letter day, after all, so tormenting Caster isn't exactly going to encourage her to keep it up.]

Well, that's reassuring. I'll see you then.

[She has a mission! Being 'nice' like this was never her strong suit- not since she was a child, anyway, so she didn't have much of an idea how she was supposed to go about this. Manipulating or cursing people? Acting the evil witch everyone said she was? Easy! Being nice to someone? ...This was definitely out of her comfort zone.

...But Morgan was a good friend, and despite his teasing, he'd already helped her out a lot since she'd arrived.

So it was that she turned up to the farm around lunchtime the next day. Morgan would, presumably, be entirely unsurprised to find a picnic blanket under one of her arms, and a totally innocent not suspiciously lunch-shaped cloth bag in her other arm.]

[He is shocked, shocked, that this could occur. So shocked that he paused to lean on his hoe, grinning her way.]

Am I working hard enough for you?

[colchismagecraft]

Hm, well at least you're not slacking off, I suppose.

[That definitely was an 'I knew it' sort of grin, she was sure of it!]

[morganknight]

I don't know how to slack off. [He spreads the hand not parked on the hoe with an innocent smile.] Especially not when I have someone to keep happy!

[colchismagecraft]

I'm sure. Well, I'm glad you're in a good mood.

...When you're free. Let me know.

[morganknight]

I can take a break now. [Whirling his hoe to rest it over his shoulder, Morgan saunters her way.] If you have some idea how I could spend it, of course.

You're definitely teasing me...!

[A small huff. Perhaps she hadn't meant to voice that out loud, oops.]

I was- Well. I was wondering if you wanted to join me for lunch. I...made sandwiches, so.

[It didn't sound like she'd take 'no' for an answer!]

[morganknight]

I would be honored to join you. [And though he makes it silly by putting a hand over his heart and bowing slightly, he isn't lying. Caster asking him to join her for lunch truly is an honor, as well he knows.]

[colchismagecraft]

[Although she rolled her eyes beneath her hood at his silly gesture, she was rather relieved he didn't turn her away- not that she thought he would, but there was always the little voice in the back of her mind that told her otherwise.]

Wonderful- come on, then. I brought a picnic blanket.

[At least the weather was warming up enough to eat outside!

Once she'd found a quiet spot to lay out the blanket, she awkwardly took a seat and gestured for him to join her, placing the suspiciously lunch-shaped cloth bag beside her.]

...Listen, I... you've helped me a great deal since I arrived here, even though you had no obligation to. And, well. I wanted to thank you properly.

[There's a lot to say to that, and Morgan has only a split-second to decide what response to go with as he sits down. The simplest, he reasons, is the best.]

You're welcome, Caster. I'm glad I can help you.

[Simplest certainly seemed effective enough- it was good he was taking this all in his stride.]

I did wonder if I was beyond that- if I'd already sunk to rock bottom a long time ago. Well, you seem determined to prove me wrong.

[Caster shrugged, unwrapping the cloth bag to reveal an array of sandwiches and other delicacies. Thankfully for her, sandwiches mostly involved cutting up bread and other ingredients, and that was something she could manage easily. She'd chosen some fairly classic choices- beef with watercress and horseradish mayonnaise, egg salad and ploughman's. She hoped there was something there Morgan would like!

It looked like she'd snuck in a couple of... less classic recipes in there as well. What appeared to be fried eggplant stuffed with a spiced walnut paste, and stuffed vine leaves. Caster couldn't resist pushing herself a little after all.]

...Well, I think I made plenty, so do tuck in. I hope you enjoy it.

[She's a little nervous, but she definitely didn't think it had come out poorly!]
