I can take a break now. [Whirling his hoe to rest it over his shoulder, Morgan saunters her way.] If you have some idea how I could spend it, of course.
I would be honored to join you. [And though he makes it silly by putting a hand over his heart and bowing slightly, he isn't lying. Caster asking him to join her for lunch truly is an honor, as well he knows.]
[Although she rolled her eyes beneath her hood at his silly gesture, she was rather relieved he didn't turn her away- not that she thought he would, but there was always the little voice in the back of her mind that told her otherwise.]
Wonderful- come on, then. I brought a picnic blanket.
[At least the weather was warming up enough to eat outside!
Once she'd found a quiet spot to lay out the blanket, she awkwardly took a seat and gestured for him to join her, placing the suspiciously lunch-shaped cloth bag beside her.]
...Listen, I... you've helped me a great deal since I arrived here, even though you had no obligation to. And, well. I wanted to thank you properly.
[There's a lot to say to that, and Morgan has only a split-second to decide what response to go with as he sits down. The simplest, he reasons, is the best.]
[Simplest certainly seemed effective enough- it was good he was taking this all in his stride.]
I did wonder if I was beyond that- if I'd already sunk to rock bottom a long time ago. Well, you seem determined to prove me wrong.
[Caster shrugged, unwrapping the cloth bag to reveal an array of sandwiches and other delicacies. Thankfully for her, sandwiches mostly involved cutting up bread and other ingredients, and that was something she could manage easily. She'd chosen some fairly classic choices- beef with watercress and horseradish mayonnaise, egg salad and ploughman's. She hoped there was something there Morgan would like!
[His reaction ought to be pretty gratifying, then, because it goes like:]
Oooh! Dolmeh!
[He has one in his mouth almost before the word ends, and he's scooped up a sandwich with his other hand. At least he swallows before he speaks again.] If this is what helping you rewards me with, I'm the luckiest man alive!
[It would be hard to see under her hood, but her eyes lit up at his reaction. At least she was able to surprise him- and he seemed delighted with her choices!
She was a rather inexperienced cook, so the flavours hadn't come out perfectly, but she'd tried her best, and the taste was still pleasant. So, success?]
Well... you've seen me at my worst and talked me through it, and... you heard me out when I spoke of my legend so. I couldn't not repay you. I'm just glad you're enjoying it.
[Caster helped herself to some of the food once he'd had a chance to tuck in.]
Naw, you didn't have to repay me. That's what friends are for. But I sure as heck am not complaining that you did, because man.
[Sandwiches, especially like the ones she's made, are like home to him. He used to get a sandwich for work most every day, made by one of his family members or the other, and they always tasted better than the richest dumb food anyone could buy.]
[Her expression brightened a little as he referred to her as his friend. Another reminder that she actually had allies here.]
I admit I was a little worried you were going to suggest something rather complicated... I'm not too experienced with cooking, but I wanted to try, at least.
[She couldn't help but smile. He really did seem to be enjoying her food!]
[This is the perfect gift after a morning of hard work, so she really chose well indeed. He hadn't at any point found helping her to be a burden or anything, but if he had this would more than make up for it!]
Aside from cars, I'm a simple man with simple tastes, so you don't have to worry there.
[She'll take a nice car over a boat, so...you never know?]
Oh, really? So all of you were involved?
I suppose the closest I've done to manual labor like this was helping out aboard the ship when we were at sea, but even then I mostly relied on my magic
Yep. It was a boarding school, so the whole 'earn your keep' part fed into that. And it worked great, I think. At the very least I don't have any problem with physical labor!
You do seem like you'd have relied on your magic for most things, though.
I see... I suppose this is what you're you used to, then. You said that was where you learned martial arts as well, didn't you?
And of course, when you're as powerful as Sorceress as I am, using your magic to solve most problems comes naturally.
[It was at that point that a house-cat sized skeletal dragon bounded over to investigate the picnic, climbing up onto Caster's lap and peering at Morgan curiously.]
[Morgan gets about a syllable into a reply when he has to slap his hands over his mouth and bend over slightly, body shaking. Lest Caster worry, after managing to suck in some air he gets the fierce giggles just a little bit under control.]
[The little dragon was fierce, dammit! And just to emphasise that it was just as scary and intimidating as it's mistress, it stood up proudly on it's back legs and gave Morgan a roar! ... Which ended up sounding like an adorable baby crocodile and did nothing to help it's case.
Even Caster couldn't help but chuckle- both at Morgan's reaction and at her familiar's antics.]
Look, if you don't behave, I'll have to bring out my own fierce protector. [Morgan waggles a finger at the little guy.] Before the might and wrath of Typhon, you'll quake! Quake I tells ya!
[Whilst Caster seemed intrigued by the prospect, the little dragon stared up at Morgan's finger like it was a challenge, wriggling itself ready to pounce!
Judging from the way it was wagging it's tail though, it did seem to be having fun.]
[No chance to pounce -- because Morgan withdraws that hand to plunge it into his coat. A deep reach into an inner pocket later, and he produces...]
Behold! Typon, the Slayer of Fingers, the Ever-Watching, the Bitey!
[Nine hydra heads raise on nine hydra necks from one tiny hydra body. Three of them regard Caster, curiously; two of them eye the dragon instead. One of them is attempting to steal the sandwich in Morgan's other hand. Two of them are furiously wrangling a scrap of cloth, striving for dominance. The last one is asleep.]

I was- Well. I was wondering if you wanted to join me for lunch. I...made sandwiches, so.

It looked like she'd snuck in a couple of... less classic recipes in there as well. What appeared to be fried eggplant stuffed with a spiced walnut paste, and stuffed vine leaves. Caster couldn't resist pushing herself a little after all.]
...Well, I think I made plenty, so do tuck in. I hope you enjoy it.
[She's a little nervous, but she definitely didn't think it had come out poorly!]
