morganknightI've found the solution. The absolute perfect solution.
In Rhydin, alternate times and universes intersect seemingly at random. Don, for example, is from New York in an Earth reality that isn't mine; in another reality Stephen is still a little kid and his uncle never became a vegetable.
So in theory, if I can find an intersection that leads to MY reality, in the past, I could save my parents.
I could even do it without disrupting history too badly. After all, my parents' bodies were never found. If I remove them from Earth rather than allowing them to die, skip them through Rhydin, and return them at the time (according to my perceptions) that I rescue them, then it's exactly the same as if they had died. I think I can do this. I really, really, think this is possible, if I just find a way back.
Of course, everybody else thinks I'm a fucking idiot. Some foolish kid who'd just toss a boulder into the river of time and who cares who it splashes! I'm so sick of this. I trained for thirteen years to be a master of martial arts. I'm president of a multi-billion dollar corporation and I do it well. I'm a good friend, I try my best to be a good person. I believe at heart I'm much better than I could be.
I AM NOT SOME WHINY, SNOT-NOSED LITTLE BRAT. I do not need to be babysat, controlled, abused, or lectured. And I will show them -- all of them -- what I can do. I will do this, and then I will take the greatest of pleasure in rubbing in their faces that it worked. Because there's no one, absolutely NO ONE, who can dare question me if I successfully alter history without repercussions.
I will have my parents back. I will have MYSELF back.
