Addendum -- I got to meet Maranya Valkonan, Stephen's Rhydin-only aunt, more formally tonight. MAN, did I fuck that up! She's really locked into brooding, and I just didn't help with my talk about perspective and realism and so forth. I guess I came on too friendly or something.
