Nhairis looked like hell. Absolute hell, once we got her out of the battle and everybody got away. Dori and Raven did what they could for her, but there was only so much damage they could heal. They promised she would make a full recovery, though.

I hugged her. I told her I loved her, but I had to go. I couldn't bear the thought of the Chorus regrouping and coming to find me, and finding her.. Her being hurt more.

So I grabbed my stuff and headed for the car -- but I didn't make it just quite yet. There was a man there -- dressed all in black, with hood, cloak, even a mask over his mouth. Waiting for me. Needless to say I was ready to whup ass, but he stopped me. He told me something I remember very clearly.

"You, Morgan Knight, have destroyed her. Lila. She ran away, because you did not give her a chance. You were cruel and unfair to her. You broke her heart. She ran. She is back now. She is safe and in a place where she will be cared for. Remember what you have done, Morgan Knight. Remember the pain you have caused her."

I went back to Rhydin. I broke up with Angelin -- how could I not? Irina, Vee, Cadence, Lila -- I won't add Angelin to that list. I won't ever add another person to that list.

Seamus was in the hospital. I called Rose there, spoke with her. Someone had beaten him. I arranged to pay for his treatment, although they aren't supposed to know. They don't seem to,
